Before you throw it in the garbage - put it out on your front lawn and recycle it!
Remember to pick up and use your Town sign.  Any items left over bring them to the Annual Spring Clean Up on May 25!

on Friday, May 10 @ the Carstairs Neighbourhood Party at the Community Services Table or at the Town Office before closing.

We will accept the following: wood, plastic, household garbage, paint and metal.  No fridges or freezers with freon, no recycables and no compost.  Sorting your load makes drop off more efficient and faster. Canada Celebrations and Fireworks

Beef & Barley Days
July 19-21, 2019

Festivities include a rodeo, fireworks display, pancake breakfast and one of the best parades in rural Alberta. There's a Farmer's Market, art show, kids games & activities, ball games and food venders as well as a roast beef supper followed by a cabaret!

Drive in Movie

Parking opens at 6:30 pm  

The Town of Carstairs proudly presents this fun event for the whole family. The parking lot at the Community Hall will become the stage for our annual drive in movie. This event has become one of the most anticipated and appreciated evenings of the year in our Community.  Once you've parked and while you're waiting for DUSK why not head inside the Community Hall and visit the Parenting Fair & Multi-Organization Registration Night.                        

Watch for posters to find out what the movie will be this year! There is no charge for this event; we just ask that you bring along an item for our youth food bank. Of course, the concession will be open with fresh popcorn!

Annual Parenting Fair & Multi - Organization Registration Night

The Parenting Fair offers goodie bags, door prizes, glitter, tattoos, refreshments, snacks and so much more!  In conjunctIon with the Multi-Organization Registration at the Carstairs Community Hall.  Come out and browse exhibits featuring local agencies, businesses and organizations that support parenting and children of all ages.  For further information please contact the Carstairs Public Library: 403.337.3943 or  carstairspublic@prl.ab.ca.  Sponsored by Carstairs Public Library, Carstairs Community Services, Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) & Family School Wellness Program. 

Walk for the Health of It:

Walk for the Health begins each November and finishes up in April. Participants can register online and log in their weekly steps or kilometers. 

We are able to track the group's progress as well as each individual walker. Walkers can choose where they'd like to exercise whether it is on a treadmill, the streets or the walking track at the Carstairs Memorial Arena. Everyone is encouraged to join!

The Pumpkin Festival began in 1984 as a way to put Carstairs on the map! There is a little something for everyone.Come view our pumpkin contests, taste our delicious pies, and shop our local vendors' tables for home made baking, crafts, and preserves.

There are table rentals, a pumpkin and scarecrow competition, the Pumpkin King and Queen, entertainment, baking competition and a mini trade show.

Remembrance Day Ceremonies at the Royal Canadian Legion
November 11, 2018

Remembrance Day Service: Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Hugh Sutherland School
Location: Hugh Sutherland School 1372 Highway 581 Carstairs 
Time: Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and Ceremonies starts at 10:30 a.m.
Lunch at Legion to follow ceremonies.
The Ringing of the Bell will be held at the Bancroft United Church at 4:53pm. Bell will be rung 100 times to create a remembrance that highlights the scarifices of Canadians who served in WW1 and their families. 


Christmas Craft Fair

The Christmas Craft Fair is held at the Carstairs Community Hall each November. Local artists sell jewelry, crafts,
specialty items, and a variety of other unique items.

Crazy Carstairs Christmas
December 7, 2018

A magical night in Carstairs when the town transforms into a winter wonderland for both children and parents. The Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Carstairs Crazy Christmas.

This night offers a chance to scoop up late night shopping with excellent deals from local merchants and is also a time for families to enjoy exciting festivities downtown. There are free hot dogs, hot chocolate and cookies. Kids will be able to sit on Santa's knee, have a horse drawn carriage ride. And the best part of all? The fireworks!

Kids: join us in the Science Lab at Hugh Sutherland School and our team of Christmas Experts will help you pick out that perfect gift for mom and dad. Bring one loony per gift and shop away! We'll wrap it up tight so no parents can peek!!!

Parents: Please send gift bags with your kids to speed up the wrapping line!

If you have some items that you would like to donate, they can be dropped off at either the Town Office. (Donations accepted in October, November and December)

Admission is a food bank donation under our Christmas Tree.  Monetary donations accepted at the Market Managers Table.
