Garbage & Recycling

The Town of Carstairs is committed to the Municipal Sustainability Plan in which one of the five pillars is the Environment. The town encourages each department daily to promote creating a sustainable community through protecting natural resources.

Two areas that the town and residents are able to promote sustainability are through garbage and recycling.

Space the garbage and recycling bins approximately 4 feet apart to ensure the truck arms do not knock over the other bin. Roll out bins should be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. to ensure pickup.

The Town of Carstairs' garbage collection occurs bi-weekly on Fridays. Please ensure your rollout bins are curbside by 7:00 AM for pick-up.

2025 Garbage Collection Schedule

2025 Spring Clean Up: May 23 - 30, 2025 (Pick up your Voucher at the Town Office Beginning April 28, 2025)

Residential Recycling collection follows the same schedule as garbage collection. Please ensure your rollout bins are curbside by 7:00 AM for pick-up.

The Town of Carstairs' recycling program is now managed by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in Alberta.
